What You Need to Get Verified
Preparing ahead of time can help you complete ID verification quickly and avoid delays during your Standard Carrier Alpha Code® (SCAC™) application or renewal.
What To Have Ready
A valid, government-issued photo ID
Have a current, unexpired government ID ready (such as a driver’s license or passport). This is used to confirm your identity and link a real, verified person to the SCAC.
Basic personal information
You’ll be asked to provide a few standard details like your name, contact information, and physical address to complete the verification process. This information is used only to verify identity and is not shared publicly.
Please note that no P.O. boxes are allowed.
Access to a device with a camera
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera is required to complete the identity check. The process is quick and can be done from anywhere with an internet connection.
Please note: If you are a reseller of non-Class 8 SCACs, your clients must complete the full application or renewal process themselves, from start to finish.
Resellers cannot initiate the process, and clients cannot complete only the ID verification step.
Helpful Tip
Make sure the information you provide matches across all steps of verification—your photo ID, company details, and selfie—to help avoid delays in the process.
Tips for a Smooth Verification

Ensure your information matches your official ID
Use the same legal name and details shown on your government-issued photo ID. Mismatched information is one of the most common causes of verification delays.
Use a well-lit environment when taking your selfie.
Good lighting helps ensure your photo and ID are clear and readable. Avoid shadows, glare, or low-light settings to prevent the need for re-submissions. Please note that existing images cannot be uploaded, and the government-issued ID needs to match the person taking the selfie.

Follow on-screen instructions carefully.
Each step is designed to guide you through the process quickly and accurately. Taking a moment to review instructions can help you complete verification on the first try.
Privacy and Data Protection
NMFTA does not display or sell personal data. Only verification status is associated with a SCAC.
Confirm Your SCAC is Verified
Once your identity verification is complete and your SCAC is issued, you’ll receive complimentary login access to SCAC Verified. Use it to confirm your SCAC is displayed correctly, verify its status, and ensure there are no fraudulent or duplicate listings tied to your code.
SCAC Verified provides visibility into your own SCAC record only. Individual SCAC logins do not include access to the full SCAC Verified database—this product requires separate purchase.
