SCAC Requirements and Fees

Applying for a Standard Carrier Alpha Code® (SCAC™) is designed to be clear and repeatable. This page outlines what you’ll need to apply and what to expect during issuance. 

Identity verification is required as part of SCAC issuance. This helps protect legitimate carriers and strengthens trust across the industry.

  • Business and operating information; 
  • Contact details for the organization; 
  • Carrier type and primary mode(s); and 
  • A designated individual who will complete identity verification (currently for Non-Class 8 Carriers only).

Identity verification is completed online during issuance. This ensures each SCAC is tied to a real, verified individual.

Important: SCAC Verified is a status-only trust signal. Personal identity data is not published.

NMFTA does not display or sell personal data. Only verification status is associated with a SCAC.

Fees depend on the SCAC type and use case. The application portal will display the current pricing during checkout.
