How SCAC Verified Works
SCAC Verified™ is designed to answer one core question quickly and clearly:
“Is this SCAC valid, and what is its current status?”
It does this by displaying authoritative Standard Carrier Alpha Code® (SCAC™) information issued and governed by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc.® (NMFTA)™.

Step 1: SCAC Is Issued or Renewed
Carriers apply for or renew a SCAC through NMFTA's official SCAC application system at scaccode.com.
Any required identity verification is completed during that process—not within SCAC Verified.
Step 2: Status Is Recorded
Once issued or renewed:
- SCAC status is updated in NMFTA’s system of record;
- Verification status is associated with the SCAC where applicable; and
- No personal identity data is published.
Step 3: Status Is Displayed in SCAC Verified
SCAC Verified displays:

Active and inactive (expired) SCAC status

Verification indicators (where applicable)

Official SCAC reference data
This allows users to check trust without accessing private systems or handling sensitive data.
